Such a wonderful and heartwarming experience at Khaar! We loved everything, from the delicious food and authentic flavors to the warm, inviting ambience. The genuine hospitality made the evening even more special. It’s a beautiful place to discover the rich and unique cuisine of Northeast India. We left with happy hearts and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended! ❤️

Khaar is a welcome change from the usual North Indian restaurant scene in the Bay Area. It’s modern Northeast Indian cooking from Assam and the Seven Sisters and it feels distinct without trying too hard. The food was excellent. Flavors were bright, layered, and clearly thought through rather than just “spicy Indian.” Dishes felt rooted in regional cooking but plated and finished in a contemporary way. Nothing tasted generic. The space is beautiful. Warm, considered decor that matches the food. Easy to settle into for a proper dinner. Hospitality was the other standout. The team was warm, attentive, and proud of what they’re serving without hovering. You feel looked after. If you want something different from the Indian food served by most of the Indian restaurants, go here. I’m looking forward to go back.

Being from Northeast India, I could truly appreciate and relate to the authenticity of the flavors at KHAAR. ❤️ Every dish had such a beautiful connection to the food and flavors I grew up knowing, while still having a creative and modern touch. We tried the Himalayan Thukpa, The Khaar Croquette, Garlic Wok Rice, Claypot Goat Chops, and Golden Coconut Curry with shrimp, everything was absolutely mouthwatering and beautifully presented. The desserts were equally delightful, Black Sticky Rice Pudding, were all wonderful. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the flavors of Northeast India were showcased. The food, presentation, and hospitality made the whole experience truly special. Proud to see our Northeast cuisine represented so beautifully in Sunnyvale. ❤️ A wonderful experience and definitely a place I would love to visit again!

I was so excited to try Khaar, especially being from Northeast India myself. It’s the first restaurant of its kind in the Bay Area, and absolutely worth the visit! I tried the black sesame chicken, pork with bamboo shoot, goat chops, smoked pork, and black rice pudding, everything was delicious. The flavors are unique and such a refreshing change from the Indian food we typically find around the Bay Area. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

If you don’t like Indian food, think again and give Khaar in Sunnyvale a try, there is a true deliciousness in every bite! I’ll tell you what: I generally dislike tofu and usually refuse to eat it. But while sharing food here, I took a bite of their tofu dish, and I was completely blown away. It had an amazing texture, so many complex flavors, and was an absolute explosion in my mouth. I honestly couldn’t believe tofu could be prepared this way! Beyond the incredible food, the place looks brand-new and is richly decorated, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The service was also outstanding from start to finish. Even if you don’t live close to Sunnyvale, this restaurant is definitely worth the trip!

Loved the unique take on north east Indian cuisine. Vibrant flavours and definitely something you dont encounter often in restaurants. The naga fire shrimp, and black sesame based dishes were wonderful. The black sticky rice had an interesting flavor profile. Thukpa, another NE Indian staple, was also well done, and quite homely. The decor is tastefully selected and has a quiet, upscale feel to it. Will be back for more. Also ran into the owner who was wonderful to talk to!

Khaar with it's fusion north eastern food has potential to help transform Sunnyvale downtown into something comparable to famous eating places like LFK in Hong Kong or Lau Pa Sat in Singapore. Next time you are tired of the usual joints, try Khaar. Awesome food, decor, run by great folks!
